DIOCESAN YOUTH OFFICER

Mark Dunwoody

Mark Dunwoody is the Diocesan Youth Officer for Cork, Cloyne and Ross.
He is married to Diane and has three children, Gareth, Ricky and Dylan. He has 19 years of youth work experience in Northern Ireland and Europe, including as a youth leader, scout master and leader in outdoor pursuits. In his post as Director of Youth Work at St John and St Philips Church in The Hague, The Netherlands.Mark gained extensive experience in understanding young people of different cultures and nationalities. During this time he was involved with various projects which involve networking with other churches across Europe and Ireland.

 Mark also has extensive experience in Reconciliation work and has designed and implemented programmes in Northern Ireland, Poland and Germany; including being involved in the process of setting up a project for the summer 2007 which involved teenagers from Israel, Palestine and The Netherlands. He was one of the guest speakers in 2006 at the South African Embassy (in The Netherlands) where he took part in a Symposium to look at how to empower the youth in a post conflict society.  Mark has extensive experience and a passion for justice issues in Africa; he has lead two groups to Uganda in 2006 and 2008 and was part of an Irish delegation involved in a youth worker exchange to Zambia in December 2008.
Mark works closely with the C.D.Y.C. and the local parishes, schools and various Diocesan committees. He represents the Church of Ireland on the International Advisory Committee of the National Youth Council of Ireland.
