Anois 08
This years Anois was eagerly awaited by everyone in Cork and again we surpassed our numbers with 53 in total going up from our Diocese. We had young people and leaders from every part of the diocese including Amanda and Jayne who are have recently started a youth group up in Youghal.
Saturday afternoon saw the arrival of everyone at Clongows Wood school for the 3rd consecutive year.The theme for Anois 08 was 'Consumed', which turned out to be very prophetic taken into account all the financial turbulence in the world! The Speaker Gofi from Germany delivered talks which most agreed were very understandable to the young people present. We also had a special treat from the worship leaders who was a guy called Jeremy Cassella from Tenessee,U.S.A. One group of young people remarked to me that it was great the way Jeremy explained the background to his songs and didn't just sing the same chorus over and over! (ooh, the honesty of youth!) .
The w/end also gave everyone plenty of opportunity for relaxation and games,including a mad team competition which involved large inflatables,indeed certain youth leaders from Cork were seen covered from head to toe in Mud, resulting from a large scale mud fight between leaders and youth!
So a big thanks goes out to the organisers of Anois 08, the leaders who attended and the Rectors who encouraged their youth to attend.
