Scripture Union Visit Report, April 20th -24th
C.D.Y.C Schools Work Programme.

I had an exhilarating week with Jude, Johnny, Debbie & Stephanie from Scripture Union (Authentic Youth) as we visited 4 schools within Cork in April, delivering the programme to 400+ Students.
These daylong retreats were presented to Bandon Grammar School, Clonakilty Sacred Heart Secondary School, Midleton College & Ashton School.  The programme aims to deliver holistic and multi-sensory experiences, engaging students with their concerns and opinions. (A sharing of ones experiences as we journey through life.)

Part of the programme helps young people to explore their perceptions in relation to media and advertising, asking questions such as what is beauty? Is it defined as the qualities that give pleasure to the senses? Therefore is true beauty all around us? Maybe it’s not a person, as media would perceive, but can be discovered in the simple ordinary everyday experiences, such as; a kind word, a listening ear, the whistling of a  breeze or a rustling from the leafs.

The opportunity to listen and learn from students and the Authentic Youth Team during this week was an everlasting experience for me and as a Christian I have learned the journey of our faith is not something to hide. It is important to be able to share our experiences as we come alongside young people in their spiritual journey.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Principals, Teachers and Students who were so encouraging and welcoming during the Scripture Union Visit. Thank you all for your continued support. With a Special Thanks to Jude, Johnny, Stephanie and Debbie from Authentic Youth.

Yours sincerely

Jennifer Kingston
