SUN-UP 2009

Sun up 2009 was a great experience. I enjoyed it very much and from what I have heard everyone else did as well. It all started off by playing different games to help us to get to know other peoples names. Everyone ended up meeting lots of new people and after the great weekend many of them will be my friends for life.I realised that it doesn’t matter if you don’t know anyone going to C.D.Y.C. events because you will get to know them in no time at all.
We were then split up into 10 different groups and these were the teams that we were in for the 4 challenges. We were also split into green and white teams that were used for the board games competitions. Numerous points were awarded during the Easter weekend to the ten teams for winning, team spirit or enthusiasm. All you had to do is try your best.
After doing two challenges it was time for dinner. Everyone enjoyed it and had plenty to eat thanks to Judy Peters our main chef and her helpers. Next we got to go to the local school sports centre where we played Ultimate Frisbee and Uni hockey. After that we had a table quiz that got our brains working to the best of our abilities. We then enjoyed a film and then it was time to go to sleep (even though some didn’t)
5.00a.m. was our wake up call and we headed down to the beach to go to the Easter service. We watched the sun rise during the service, and of course our BBQ breakfast which was delicious. Even 5 brave soldiers went in swimming in the freezing water. When everyone was well fed we played more games and even made human pyramids, which was really fun trying to get really high. We managed to get 5 on the bottom row all the way up to one on the very top.
When we were back in the hall we did 2 more challenges and then they announced the team that had the most points after the weekend. It didn’t matter if you won or came last coz everybody got something and the most important bit is no one got hurt, we all had a good time and we worshiped God all at the same time.
A big thank-you to all the leaders who gave up their w/end to look after us and to all the parents for ferrying everyone back and forth.
